    Event Announcement: A Community in Crisis: Moving through Grief into Disaster Response

    On Thursday, January 16, 2025, Pam King, Executive Director of the Thrive Center for Human Development, will be joining a special Civitas meeting to address the community’s response to the recent fire disaster. The event, titled A Community in Crisis: Moving Through Grief into Disaster Response, will offer an opportunity to reflect on the collective grief and urgent need for action in the wake of this unprecedented tragedy. Dr. King, along with Jennifer DeVoll, CEO of the Pasadena Community Foundation, will lead the discussion on how our community can navigate this crisis and mobilize for recovery. The meeting will take place at the Civitas Clubhouse in Pasadena, CA, starting at 5:30 PM PST.     Thrive Center Awarded Interfaith America’s Faith & Health Campus Grant!

    We are thrilled to announce that we have received the “Spiritual Health, Thriving, and Chaplaincy” project grant from Interfaith America. This grant will support an innovative collaboration between Fuller’s MA Chaplaincy (MAC) Program, the Office of Chaplains, and the Thrive Center to equip spiritually-engaged leaders—such as chaplains, clergy, and therapists—with the knowledge and tools to integrate psychological resources within religion and spirituality for promoting mental health and well-being. The project will develop three graduate-level courses, foster campus-community partnerships, and produce a video exploring multi-faith perspectives on spiritual health. Building on Fuller’s rich history of integrating psychology, theology, and intercultural studies, the initiative will introduce a new THRIVE framework for spiritual health, designed to support individuals in religiously diverse settings.     Thrive Fellowship 2024-2025

    Thrive Fellowships are for clinical doctoral students who aspire to serve and lead in the academic study, teaching, training, and/or practice of integrative approaches to human thriving. Students completing their second, third, or fourth year may apply (though exceptional first-year students will be considered with faculty referral) The Thrive Center for Human Development is an applied research center that conducts research and develops resources to inspire, inform, and equip people to thrive. Thrive Fellowships are intended for students who seek experience and mentorship in theoretically-informed research and/or in translating research for practical applications related to spiritual health and thriving. Interested applicants must discuss their desire to apply with Dr. Pam King and their faculty advisor.
